El hombre forma parte de los ecosistemas, integrndose a ellos principalmente, con las actividades productivas que inserta en el medio. Estas actividades que se desarrollan en el territorio de la Patagonia sur Argentina, (ganadera, minera, actividad forestal y agricultura), no han podido sostenerse sin causar desertificacin, contaminacin y sobreexplotacin de los bosques nativos, poniendo en riesgo su potencial desarrollo. El objetivo general del presente trabajo es presentar alternativas de planificacin territorial de las actividades productivas primarias en la Patagonia Sur Argentina, que sirvan de apoyo al proceso integral de toma de decisiones en el marco del desarrollo territorial sostenible. Utilizando una metodologa aplicada mixta (documental y de campo) y descriptiva longitudinal (retrospectiva y prospectiva), se propuso un escenario tendencial, que se presenta como un futuro poco alentador; y dos alternos, considerando una situacin futura muy negativa y el otro considerando el camino ms adecuado para lograr un desarrollo territorial sostenible, el que se podr alcanzar, dadas las potencialidades de la regin, si se anan intereses en forma solidaria.
