A reexamination of the historical relationship between Laos and Thailand, by two preeminent Lao historians who bring to light a wealth of new source material in their evaluation of the Laotian leader, Chao Anou, and his failed revolt against Siam. This book challenges conventional Thai interpretations of that event and of the political conflicts leading up to it.

I picked up 'Paths to Conflagration' after hearing great things, and it did not disappoint! The insights into the diplomatic and warfare history of Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam are fascinating. It really helped me understand the complex history of the region. Perfect for anyone interested in Southeast Asian studies!

Good Content, But Dense at Times
This book has some excellent information and covers a lot of ground in the region's history. However, I found some sections a bit dense and hard to follow. It's definitely a scholarly work, so if you’re looking for something light, this isn't it. Still, worth a read if you want depth.
