La Arqueologa Urbana ha tenido un notable desarrollo en las ltimas dcadas. En Argentina, las investigaciones sobre esta temtica han mostrado una gran diversidad, producto de un abordaje terico ms amplio y un trabajo metodolgico interdisciplinario. Este trabajo de investigacin se propuso analizar hbitos de consumo a partir de restos arqueolgicos ubicados en el ejido urbano de la ciudad de Baha Blanca, que contienen un alto ndice de artefactos y objetos de uso cotidiano, con una cronologa aproximada entre fines del siglo XIX y las primeras dos dcadas del siglo XX. Tratndose de un sitio, producto de un antigo basural, el anlisis de la cermica y el vidrio, entre otros artefactos, permiten aproximarnos a las formas de intercambio y consumo en una cuidad atravesada por la modernizacin nacional y una creciente diferenciacin social. Por otro lado se trata de comprender la utilizacin de los basurales en un perodo donde la salud y la higiene social tenan una gran importancia, analizando la apropiacin del paisaje urbano y su imaginario cultural.
