Die zentrale Figur stellt Venus dar. Venus, die vermeintliche Braut symbolisiert die keusche Fruchtbarkeit. Sie ist ihrem Schicksal erlegen, denn sie hat keine Mitsprache bei der Hochzeitswahl. Diese Annahme belegen die drei Figuren in der rechten Bildhlfte, die wohl als Flora, Nymphe Chloris und Zephyr zu deuten sind. Zephyr reit Chloris an sich, was aller Voraussicht nach symbolisch dafr steht, dass die Ehe fr die dargestellte Frau nicht frei whlbar ist. Fast 400 Jahre spter spielt Wilhelm Leibl in seinem Gemlde Drei Frauen in der Kirche' auf die Unterwrfigkeit der Frau gegenber der Kirche an. Er gibt dem Betrachter zu verstehen, dass je lter die Frau wird, die Frmmigkeit in ihr zunimmt. Des Weiteren verweist er auf die Unschuld der jngsten Frau, wie es ihr weies Gewand belegt.Mittels diesem sinnbildhaftem, angedeutetem Diskurs durch die Kunstgeschichte wird deutlich, dass die Darstellung der Frau durch einen mnnlichen Knstler seit der Renaissance ein unerschpfliches Thema ist. Es wird die Frau als Symbol fr die keusche Fruchtbarkeit; als Person, die sich dem Willen der Mnner zu beugen hat; als Objekt zur Befriedigung und damit die reine Reduzierung auf ihren Krper; als fromm und glubig; aber auch als Wesen dargeboten, welches mit ihrer Sexualitt der Mnnerwelt Angst bereitet, dargestellt. Das Thema Frau in der mnnlichen Knstlerwelt scheint unendlich, jedoch ber die Darstellung des Mannes aus weiblicher Sicht lsst sich weniger berichten. Nein man muss sogar noch weiter gehen ber weibliche Kunst und bedeutende Knstlerinnen dieser Zeiten lsst sich im Allgemeinen sehr viel
