The book serves as an instruction manual for the novice pekin robin breeder in particular, as well as providing a wealth of information for softbill breeders in general. Richly detailed with over 250 original illustrations by the author. The most comprehensive and current book on its topic, this handbook provides both novice and experienced aviculturists with detailed information and techniques for managing and breeding pekin robins and other small softbill birds. The topics covered include: biology; housing; predator management; acquisition, quarantine and acclimation; breeding; handrearing; feeding; cultivating live food; health care; and conservation breeding. As well the book includes an extensive list of softbill species, complete with beautiful watercolor prints of the various birds described. The authors own precise drawings and photographs complement the descriptions and instructions within each section, enabling readers to better understand the procedures being outlined. In addition, the inclusion of case histories drawn from the authors own aviculture experiences provides interesting anecdotal information that takes the book away from being simply a howto manual.

As a bird lover, I found this Pekin Robins and Small Softbills management guide super helpful. The breeding tips were really clear and concise, making it easier for me to care for my birds. Definitely a must-have for anyone looking to breed these types!

Useful but not comprehensive enough
I appreciated the information in this book about Pekin Robins, but I was hoping for more depth on softbills. It covers the basics, but I felt like it skimmed over some important details. Still a decent read if you're just starting out.

Good basics but not what I expected
I bought this expecting in-depth breeding strategies but it felt a bit basic for my needs. It’s fine if you're a beginner, but I found some sections lacking in detail. I think I'll need to look for more specialized books.

Perfect for starting my bird breeding journey
This guide has been fantastic in helping me understand how to manage Pekin Robins. The tips on breeding were well-organized, and I feel much more confident now. I even shared some insights with my friends who are also into birdkeeping!
