For four players. Advanced multipercussion quartet. Today's percussionist is surrounded by an evergrowing array of instruments producing a myriad of unusual sounds. ""Pentadic Striations"" explores this medium with an emphasis on patterns of five and a series of rhythmic modulations connecting sections of the work. Player I plays 4 high tomtoms, 3 cowbells, triangle, and vibraphone. Player II plays 4 roto toms, 3 suspended cymbals, 3 brake drums, bass drum, and marimba. Player III plays 4 low tomtoms, bongos, 3 alm glocken, and crotales (one octave). Player IV plays 4 timpani, 5 temple blocks, and 3 Chinese cymbals.
