The remarkable binding properties of Peptide Nucleic Acids (PNA), the so called artificial DNAs, have spawned a rapidly expanding new field of research, where the targets are the synthesis of PNAs and PNA analogues, and their applications as therapeutics, DNA diagnostics, tools in biotechnology and much more. This book describes the design, synthesis and analytical studies of labeled nucleic acid analog. Basic methods for the synthesis of PNA monomer/oligomer are incorporated. Further, the syntheses of electrochemical and fluorescently labeled PNA monomers/oligomers are dealtwith in detail. The final part of the book discusses about the possibility of using linkers/spacers to carry marker to link PNA monomer/oligomer.
