Ser una Universidad de frontera es poder desempearse tambin como un actor de la Diplomacia Ciudadana y como socio estratgico de la Diplomacia tradicional, a travs de consulados y programas binacionales de las Cancilleras en las fronteras. Este estudio presenta algunas de estas iniciativas universitarias, fundamentalmente el proyecto de capacitacin de periodistas de la frontera ecuatoriana peruana en la bsqueda de una cultura de paz con desarrollo, en una regin con ms de 60 aos de tensas relaciones. La meta es desterrar esa idea de concebir a la frontera como un smbolo de la guerra y de la divisin y, ms bien, definirla como un medio estratgico para fomentar la integracin.
