Peter Pan, the boy who could not grow up, has been helping other children grow for over 70 years. Thanks to the generosity of its author, J. M. Barrie, who donated the rights of this classic to the Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital in 1929, this magical work has collaborated in helping many ill children receive care at that hospital. In August 2004, Peter Pan turned 100 years old, and the Special Trustees of the Hospital launched a worldwide search for a writer to create a sequel to J. M. Barrie's timeless masterpiece. In a contest entered by over two hundred writers, and with a jury composed of journalists, literary critics, members of the hospital, and members of Barries family, English author Geraldine McCaughrean won the honor to write this official sequel. She is the author of over one hundred childrens books, and threetime winner of the Whitbread Award in Childrens Literature.
