Die PetriNetze haben in letzter Zeit zunehmend Beachtung gefunden. Das zeigt sich sowohl in der intemationalen Literatur als auch auf Tagungen, Workshops usw. Durch Petri und seine Mitarbeiter konnte eine gut ausge baute Theorie der Netz1 entwickelt werden. Praktische Anwendungsmoglich keiten sieht man bei umfangreichen Programmsystemen, beim Zusammenspiel der Komponenten komplexer Systeme, z.B. Datenverarbeitungsanlagen, in der ProzessSteuerung, bei Verkehrs und Signalsystemen, usw. Dabei konnte ich gewisse Schwierigkeiten darin erkennen, die Standpunkte der Theoretiker und der Praktiker miteinander in Einklang zu bringen. Der Theoretiker neigt zu einer abstrakten Formulierung einer geschlosse nen und in sich logisch aufgebauten Theorie, unter Verwendung moglichst weniger elementarer Grundbegriffe. Der Praktiker arbeitet lieber mit Erganzungen und Erweiterungen von bereits bewahrten Darstellungen kon struktiver Steuerungsmechanismen, Schaltzeichnungen usw. Die zunachst ebenfalls abstrakten Disziplinen wie Schaltalgebra und Automatentheorie sind inzwischen weitgehend auch in das Gedankengut der Ingenieure einge gangen. Daher ist es mein Bestreben, in dieser Richtung den Anschluss an die PetriNetze zu suchen. Dabei habe ich bewusst in dieser Schrift auf rein formale Darstellungen und Ableitungen verzichtet. Auch der Be griff der Lebendigkeit, der in der Theorie der PetriNetze eine grosse Rolle spielt, wird zunachst zurUckgestellt.
