Ebenfalls in der Tradition des Humanismus sieht sich ein vllig andere Ideen entwickelnder franzsischer Philosoph, Naturforscher und Theologe, der Jesuitenpater Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, der in seinem etwa zeitgleich mit Sartres Essay entstandenen Hauptwerk "Le phnomne humaine" nicht von einem philosophischen Ansatzpunkt ausgeht wie Sartre, sondern von einem naturwissenschaftlichen. Unter schrittweiser Darstellung der Evolution des Universums geht Teilhard der Frage nach, wie die Menschheit entstanden sei und welchem Ziel sie zustrebe. Als Priester geht er schlielich noch einen Schritt weiter und versucht, eine radikale Vergegenwrtigung der christlichen Botschaft, d.h. fr ihn (...) ihre bersetzung in das Weltbild der Evolution". Fragt man sich nach grundlegenden Gemeinsamkeiten in diesen auf den ersten Blick doch sehr unterschiedlichen anthropologischen Entwrfen, so fllt vor allem die zentrale Rolle auf, die dem Humanen in beiden Weltanschauungen zugewiesen wird. Hierin liegt wohl der Grund dafr, dass sowohl Sartre als auch Teilhard ihre Weltanschauungen als Humanismus bezeichnet haben. Fr eine przise Verwendung des Begriffs im Rahmen dieser Arbeit muss zunchst einmal die Anthropologie Teilhards und Sartres in ihren wesentlichen Grundzgen dargestellt werden, wobei Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede herausgearbeitet werden mssen.
