Aufgrund der maritimen Abhngigkeit ist eine Sicherung der internationalen Seehandelswege fr Deutschland von besonderem sicherheitspolitischen Interesse. Die Arbeit schildert nach einer allgemeinen Begriffsbestimmung die Folgen der Piraterie fr die deutsche Wirtschaft anhand des Beispiels am Horn von Afrika. Die Selbstschutzmanahmen der Reeder, gro angelegte militrischen Operationen und AntiPiraterieManahmen einzelner Staaten, im Besonderen der Einsatz der Deutschen Marine, werden ausfhrlich behandelt. Die praktische Anwendung der KNA bestimmt anschlieend, welche Kosten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland durch Piraterie und deren Bekmpfung entstanden.
