This book is probably the only current volume to combine discussion of plant evolution with that of crop origins. The first edition was published in 1992 by PrenticeHall, and has now been fully revised to reflect recent advances. Key features include: a description of the process of evolution in native and cultivated populations of plants; a review of when and where major crops were domesticated; discussion of the subsequent development of crops over time; and greater integration of the information on evolution and crop origins compared to the first edition. The book is aimed at advanced students and postgraduates.
