His introductory essay looks closely at the dialogues themselves and includes the following sections: Socrates and the Art of Love; Socrates and Athenian Paiderastia; Loving Socrates; Love and the Ascent to the Beautiful; The Art and Psychology of Love Explained; and Writing about Love.

Unfortunately, the book arrived with a few bent pages, which was disappointing. However, I’ve been diving into the discussions of love and politics, and they’re fascinating. The material is top-notch, typical of Hackett Classics. Just wish the delivery had been better!

Great addition to my philosophy collection
I recently picked up the Hackett Classics edition of Plato's works, and it’s been a joy to read. The selections from the Republic and Laws really enrich the Symposium and the dialogues on love. The binding feels sturdy, and I appreciate the clear text layout—makes it easy to follow along!

Interesting but lacks some context
This book includes some great dialogues, but I found the introductions to each section a bit lacking. It would have been helpful to have more background on the historical context of Alcibiades and the others. Still, I enjoyed reading it and learning more about Plato's philosophy!
