Von den vielen Bezgen, beispielsweise zu Gnostizismus, Buddhismus, Existenzialismus, Skeptizismus, Marxismus und Feminismus, die interpretationswillige Autoren im Werk 'Matrix' vermuten, whlt die vorliegende Studie nur einen vermeintlichen Vorreiter aus: das Platonische Hhlengleichnis, das dem Film zwar behnde unterstellt wird, dessen genauer Nachweis aber bis heute fehlt. Entgegen der blichen Vorgehensweise, sich bei der vergleichenden Analyse von antikem Original und moderner Umsetzung eklektisch auf einzelne Details zu fokussieren, zielt die Untersuchung darauf ab, 'Matrix' konsequent dem Platonischen Gleichnis gegenberzustellen. Verbunden mit der These, dass filmintern nicht nur die vier Wissensstufen des Hhlengleichnisses abgearbeitet werden, sondern dass diese neu angeordnet, das heit bewusst verschoben worden sind, ist so die Frage, welche Antwort der Film dann fr den Zuschauer bereithalten knnte.
