This work explores Platos theory of anamnesis as given in the Meno, Phaedo, and Phaedrus. To this end an exegesis of the appropriate sections of each of these dialogues is given. After which two differing interpretations of the theory of anamnesis as given by Norman Gulley in Platos Theory of Recollection and Dominic Scott in Platonic Anamnesis Revisited are explicated. Lastly Gulleys interpretation is supported over Scotts using evidence from the aforementioned exegeses.
