We feel as if we are born from the Awe. We did not know about evolution or psychology, so when we felt the Awe, we assumed it was outside us. All we attributed to Gods outside us came from our experience of the Awe inside us. There may be a God or Gods outside us, or there may not be; the reason we believe in them is we cannot help believing in the Awe inside us and we created a being or beings outside us to explain what we experience. All the power and majesty and wonderfulness of belief are real, but they are about something in our psychology, not about something outside us. Change so profound is frightening. We need to tame our hate and increase our hope to comfort our fear. This book is part of that process. About the Author Denis Murray, Sr. is a philosopher interested in hope and hate. Educated at Georgetown, he practiced law for 20 years and then turned to philosophy. He has studied religion, psychology and science on his own for 30 years, looking for some practical ways to reduce religious hate in our nuclear age. Now nearly 70, he has begun to publish in recent years. He says we have evolved to be a gift to each other, stronger than hate. He is continuing to write, publish and present.
