El Mxico de principios del siglo XX se enfrent a distintos retos. El primero de ellos era el reordenamiento poltico para romper con la prctica antidemocrtica del rgimen porfiriano, caracterizado por la mala la calidad de vida de las clases populares que perdieron o que no tena acceso a la tierra. Con su participacin los campesinos convirtieron la revolucin mexicana en mltiples movimientos sociales donde respondan de distinta manera al momento en el que solicitaron la tierra. Este atrevimiento fue el que mayores retos les trajo, pues en primera instancia deban enfrentar a las guardias armadas de los propietarios que tenan como propsito desarticular la organizacin campesina. Otro factor determinante fue el hecho de que los propietarios de la tierra figuraran tambin como polticos locales, aprovechando su poder e investidura para bloquear el reparto de tierras por la va legal, institucional y extraconstitucional; aunque en ocasiones decidan afectar las propiedades de sus enemigos polticos para resolver los problemas inmediatos a travs de la dotacin de pequeas extensiones de tierra de mala calidad.
