La presente obra es el resultado de aos de investigacin que se han realizado como parte de las actividades del Departamento de Estudios de Procuracin de Justicia y Seguridad Pblica en la Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatln de la UNAM. Se hace un anlisis de la poltica criminal en Mxico durante el periodo 20062012. El punto de referencia es el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo 20072012, sobre todo el eje de la seguridad. Sobresalen los aspectos de la procuracin e imparticin de justicia, el crimen organizado, la cultura de la legalidad, los derechos humanos, la prevencin del delito, los cuerpos policiacos y la participacin ciudadana. De esta forma, se evalan los resultados en cada uno de esos temas, resaltando que la poltica criminal conjunta los esfuerzos de diversos actores, tanto gubernamentales como de la sociedad civil. Por ltimo, es preciso reconocer que el panorama mostrado no es ajeno a las tendencias regionales, que presentan una poltica criminal caracterizada como sociedad del riesgo y tambin como punitivismo.
