En este volumen se aborda el contexto histrico revolucionario en que surge y se posiciona la Escuela Racionalista en el Estado de Yucatn, Mxico. Se analiza el contenido filosficopedaggico que esta corriente preconizaba. Se exponen las caractersticas que adquiri el proceso de definicin e implementacin de la poltica educativa en Yucatn durante el periodo 19221924 en el efmero rgimen socialista del gobernador Felipe Carrillo Puerto, fusilado sumariamente con tres de sus hermanos el 3 de enero de 1924. Tambin se identifican los principales actores implicados en estos procesos y se recrean los mbitos en que se produjo la disputa por la educacin en la entidad. Igualmente, se hace nfasis en los aspectos relevantes que tuvo el conflicto polticoideolgico que se despleg en el estado con motivo de la implementacin de dicha Escuela como orientacin oficial de la educacin pblica. El conocimiento de estos procesos histricos y del pensamiento pedaggico que se impuls en aquel tiempo reviste singular importancia para los maestros actuales, dado que muchos problemas y planteamientos educativos examinados en este libro mantienen su vigencia en la poca contempornea.
