Anders als die populren zeitgenssischen Autoren des Landes verstanden sie Sprache nicht mehr als selbstverstndlich gegebenes Ausdrucks und Darstellungsmittel, sondern setzten sich in bewusster Reflektion kritisch mit ihr auseinander. In weit strkerem Ma als ihre sprachexperimentellen Vorbilder lieen sie sich dabei von den Theorien und Erkenntnissen der sprachkritischen Philosophie beeinflussen. Als philosophische Teildisziplin beschftigt sich die Sprachkritik, oder auch Sprachskepsis, vor allem mit der Beziehung zwischen Sprache, Wahrnehmung und Wirklichkeit; es ergeben sich vielfltige Berhrungspunkte mit der Erkenntniskritik. Im Kontext der Wiener Gruppe sind vorwiegend die sprachkritischen Positionen der Moderne (Nietzsche, Mauthner, Wittgenstein, Whorf) von Bedeutung. Ob und auf welche Weise sie auf das Werk der Gruppe eingewirkt haben, wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit untersucht.
