La produccin plstica en el Pas Vasco durante los aos 80 se ve envuelta bajo la concrecin de las diversas caractersticas que componen el fenmeno cultural de la posmodernidad, afectando esta nueva situacin al trabajo prctico y terico de numerosos escultores. Estos jvenes creadores delimitan las influencias de la posmodernidad en sus trabajos, mientras a su vez releen las pautas heredadas de la cultura local y revisan los diferentes lenguajes de la modernidad. Entre estos creadores, encontramos a ngel Bados (1945), Txomin Badiola (1957), Peio Irazu (1963) y J. Luis Moraza (1960). Otra lnea de experimentacin alejada de las premisas abstractas del grupo anterior fue llevada por los trabajos figurativos del escultor guipuzcoano Andrs Nagel (1947). Los 80 se caracterizan por el evidente resurgimiento del peso social y cultural de la mujer en el Pas Vasco, con obras que no slo definen las diferentes perspectivas que puede mantener la mujer en torno a la problemtica de su situacin social, sino tambin en relacin con la propia prctica artstica. Bajo una vertiente ms crtica, encontramos las instalaciones sociopolticas de Jos Ramn Sainz Morquillas (1947).
