La finalidad de esta investigacin es proponer el enfoque geohistrico como praxis didctica, para el aprendizaje de la geografa local. Se desarroll desde la Escuela Social Avanzada Don Rmulo Gallegos, parroquia Cristo de Aranza, municipio Maracaibo, estado Zulia Venezuela, durante 20072008. El apoyo terico se enmarca en lo geogrfico y pedaggico que se fundamenta en los principios tericometodolgicos del enfoque geohistrico y el aprendizaje significativo. El tipo de investigacin es de carcter descriptivo. La muestra pedaggica la conformaron: 3 docentes y 76 estudiantes de noveno grado secciones C y D. Para recolectar la informacin se aplic la prueba diagnstica y las guas geogrficas. El procedimiento se estructur en tres perodos y momentos, los cuales contemplan un conjunto de actividades. La importancia de este estudio radica en el diseo y aplicacin del plan de accin, para abordar el aprendizaje significativo de la geografa en Educacin Bsica.
