En los ltimos aos una gran cantidad de esfuerzos se ha dirigido a estudiar los procesos electroqumicos que involucran molculas orgnicas pequeas (metanol, etanol, cido frmico, reducir CO2, etc.). Estos esfuerzos han suministrado nuevos conocimientos bsicos sobre la electrocatlisis de los procesos que conciernen a estas especies. En este caso, se ha encontrado que los elementos del grupo del platino se comportan como catalizadores eficientes y selectivos para un gran nmero de reacciones electrocatalticas que incluyen molculas orgnicas. Aunque se conoce que las aleaciones PtRu han demostrado ser una de las ms efectivas para la electrooxidacin de molculas orgnicas a CO2, se tiene el inconveniente que an es susceptible a envenenamientos y perdida de efectividad, por esta razn es necesario estudiar nuevos materiales que mejoren el desarrollo de este nodo. En esta investigacin se pretende encontrar un electrocatalizador que sea capaz de superar las propiedades del ya conocido electrodo de Pt/Ru, traducida en una disminucin en los sobrepotenciales de oxidacin, un aumento en la densidad de corriente y una ruta que permita la oxidacin completa del material orgnico.
