The present study explores the historical background of Ambika Kalna Town, commonly known to the people as Kalna, different aspects of public library as details as possible, the definition and merit & demerit of Digital Library follows the library automation. It also highlights the history of the different public libraries of the proposed area. The study also point out the activities of the leading public libraries of the state. By using questionnaire cum interview method the study has tried to find out the present status of the public libraries along with the ICT infrastructure and progress of automation. From the data collected it is find that the present condition is not so up to the mark in the light of the electronic environment. This work provides some suggestions on the basis of the findings, which may be able to eradicate the problems face by the libraries. Finally, this may be stated that if the authority will take necessary drive by allotting more financial grant and other administrative support then only the future of these libraries will be indispensible to the society, as a whole.
