Destaca, por ejemplo, una diferencia esencial entre el humor del masoquista que desva la ley del padre y la irona glacial del sdico, que tiende a erigir una ley imposible basada en la anulacin de cierta naturaleza segunda. Su mirada de excepcional penetracin distingue las relaciones del masoquista y el sdico con el fantasma en pginas memorables donde revaloriza las tesis de Theodor Reik. Su reflexin afina al mximo las nociones freudianas de ideal del yo, pulsin de muerte, agresividad y supery, mostrando cmo la concepcin de este ltimo pierde todo papel operativo en el hipottico vuelco de una entidad clnica y otra.
