El propsito de este trabajo fue reportar los resultados de la examinacin clnica de los dientes de equinos de trabajo en la zona conurbada VeracruzBoca del Ro, y responder a la hiptesis que planteamos de que en estos equinos existe una prevalencia mayor al 70% de anormalidades, para este trabajo se muestrearon 52 equinos de forma aleatoria y fueron 27 hembras y 25 machos de edad de 2 aos en adelante. Para identificar cada diente y las anormalidades dentales se utiliz el sistema numrico modificado Triadan (Baker et al 2002; Pence, 2002). Las anormalidades dentales que encontramos fueron ausencia de dientes un 2%, retencin de casquetes dentales un 2%, braquignatismo moderado un 4%, boca en cizalla un 2%, caries dental un 2%, en dientes del carrillo, se encontraron escalones dentales en el 10%, ganchos dentales se encontraron un 48%, olas dentales un 17 %, rampas dentales un 13%, crestas dentales un 27%, los caninos largos en un 6%, fractura en dientes incisivos un 4%, diastemas en incisivos un 4%, dientes de lobo un 44% de los equinos; se observaron vestigios de caninos en yeguas en el 12% y odontofitos en el 100% de los equinos muestreados.
