Dabei konzentrierte sich die Berichterstattung jedoch auf Sensationsmeldungen der Boulevardpresse. In Deutschland wurde eine politische Debatte in Bezug auf Private Militrfirmen im Jahre 2004 schnell wieder fallen gelassen, obwohl viele dieser Firmen in Deutschland ansssig sind und die Bundeswehr damit angefangen hat einige Aufgabenbereiche zu privatisieren (vlg. Uesseler 2006: 7). Mit dem Ende des Kalten Kriegs und der sich daraus ergebenden Lcke im Bereich des Sicherheitssektors, wurden traditionelle Staatenkriege von so genannten lowintensitywars oder Neuen Kriegen', wie Herfried Mnkler sie nennt, abgelst (vgl. Mnkler 2007: 13ff.). Private Militrfirmen erkannten die Zeichen der Zeit und fllten mit einem mannigfaltigen Angebot an Dienstleistungen erfolgreich diese Lcke. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit mchte eine Analyse dieses noch unbeschriebenen Blattes, der PMCBranche erstellen. Dabei wird durchgngig der englisch geprgte Begriff PMC' (Private Military Company) benutzt , da der Groteil der Literatur aus dem englischsprachigen Raum stammt. Weil die PMCBranche ein sehr breites Spektrum an Aufgabenbereichen darstellt, wird in der dieser Arbeit vor allem die uere Sicherheit bezglich PMCs behandelt, wobei die Grenzen im 21. Jahrhundert weitestgehend miteinander verschmolzen sind , sodass unweigerlich auch ein Teil der Inneren Sicherheit angeschnitten wird.
