Der vorliegenden Schrift in dem Lehrwerk Die Wirtschaftswissenschaften Neue Reihe liegt die folgende Konzeption zugrunde: Zunachst werden einige wesent liche Beziehungen zwischen Prognose und Planung aufgezeigt. Darauf folgt die Darstellung einiger aus verschiedenen Grunden bedeutender Prognoseverfahren. Dabei werden Ansatze zur Kritik nicht ausgespart. SchlieBlich wird auf den Einsatz elektronischer Rechenanlagen bei der Anwendung von Prognoseverfahren ver wiesen. Das Ziel des Buches besteht schon gelenkt durch die begrenzte Seitenzahl und die in deutscher Sprache bereits verfugbare Spezialliteratur nicht in einer detaillier ten, auf unmittelbare Anwendung bezogenen Beschreibung der verschiedenen Gesichtspunkte, sondern mehr in der Erstellung eines geordneten Oberblicks. Ich hoffe, daB der Leser auf diese Weise bekannte oder ihm neu angebotene Ver fahren einordnen kann und ihre Brauchbarkeit hinsichtlich der bei ihm speziell gegebenen Situation zu beurteilen lernt. Die zu jedem der angesprochenen Abschnitte existierende Literatur ist von einer erdruckenden Fiille. Es ist versucht worden, daraus eine Auswahl zu treffen, die zugleich die Probleme treffend behan delt und den Leser weiterzufUhren vermag. Dasselbe gilt fur die gelegentlichen Hinweise auf Anwendungsbeispiele und erfahrungen. 1m Falle der Regressions rechnung ist das Angebot auf dem zuletzt genannten Feld der Anwendungsbei spiele so groB, daB auf eine besondere Erwahnung einzelner Anwendungen ver zichtet wurde. Der Leser sollte die abschnittsweise geordneten Literaturverzeich nisse deshalb auch nicht als Bibliographien auffassen.
