Se presentan los resultados del estudio de la influencia de la textura cristalogrfica en el mecanismo de agrietamiento inducido por hidrgeno en ductos que transportan hidrocarburos amargos. Las principales tcnicas experimentales utilizadas son la microscopa de imagen orientacional (OIM) y la medicin de texturas globales utilizando difraccin de rayosX. Se demuestra que la resistencia de los aceros de bajo carbono se puede mejorar mediante el control adecuado de la textura cristalogrfica y el uso de la ingeniera de fronteras de granos. De acuerdo a los resultados, es factible proponer el control del proceso de laminado con el objetivo de inducir una textura cristalogrfica en donde predominen las orientaciones {112}//DN, {111}//DN y {011}//DN. Esta textura disminuye la susceptibilidad del material al agrietamiento ya que reduce el nmero de caminos de propagacin de baja resistencia transgranulares e intergranulares entre granos con orientacin {001}//ND, disminuye la probabilidad de coalescencia entre grietas y aumenta la cantidad de caminos de alta resistencia ya que aumenta el nmero de fronteras de coincidencia de sitio entre granos con orientacin {111}//DN.
