Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll das Konzept der prospektiv validen emotionalen Phantasie nach Stephan (2005) vorgestellt und eine erste methodische Vorgehensweise zur empirischen Messung erprobt werden. Hierbei geht es um die Fhigkeit, zuknftige Reaktionen von sich selbst und von anderen auf emotionaler Ebene prospektiv sozial valide vorherzusagen. Vor allem in unternehmerischen Kontexten kommt der realistischen Antizipation emotionaler Reaktionen auf die jeweiligen beruflichen Bedingungen eine zentrale Bedeutung zu. Da dies insbesondere von den verantwortlichen Fhrungskrften ein besonderes Ma an Vorstellungs und Einfhlungsvermgen erfordert, sollte in der vorliegenden Arbeit die prospektiv sozial valide emotionale Phantasie von N = 30 Fhrungskrften erhoben werden. Hierzu wurden den teilnehmenden Fhrungskrften Videomitschnitte aus einer Gruppendiskussion eines real durchgefhrten Assessment Centers prsentiert. Auf dieser Basis sollten die Teilnehmer eine Personalauswahlentscheidung treffen und die hierfr ausschlaggebenden Kriterien angeben. Weiterhin wurden die emotionalen Selbstwirksamkeitserwartungen nach Schmitz und Salisch (2002) der Fhrungskrfte in Form eines OnlineFragebogens ermittelt. Die erwartete bereinstimmung zwischen den Einschtzungen der Fhrungskrfte und den Gesamtergebnissen aus dem real durchgefhrten Assessment Center wurde nicht erreicht. Als ein bemerkenswertes Ergebnis konnte jedoch der signifikante Zusammenhang zwischen einer der acht Subskalen emotionaler Selbstwirksamkeit, dem Dekodieren von Emotionen, und einer angemessenen Einschtzung der Kandidaten festgehalten werden. Des Weiteren wirkte sich auch das Alter mitunter signifikant positiv auf die Auswahl des besten Kandidaten aus. Darber hinaus lieen sich im Einzelfallvergleich markante Unterschiede zwischen den Fhrungskrften feststellen, wobei einige Fhrungskrfte sich durch ausgeprgte emotionale Kompetenzen von den anderen als Menschenkenner positiv abhoben.
