Mit dem Begriff Heuristik werden das Wissen bzw. die Theorien bezeichnet, die sich mit dem Entstehen von Erkenntnissen, Erfindungen, Problemlosungen usw. befassen. Die Bedeutungsvielfalt, in der dieser Begriff Verwendung findet, die bestehende Unklarheit tiber die relevant en Wissenschaftsdisziplinen zur Er klarung und Optimierung heuristischer Prozesse sowie die offensichtliche Kom plexitat der dabei zu berticksichtigenden psychischen Leistungen deuten darauf hin, daB bei der theoretischen Durchdringung dieses Gegenstandsbereiches groBe Probleme entstehen. Andererseits ist das Entdecken und Erfinden schon seit J ahrhunderten von besonderem Interesse gewesen. Eine Zusammenstellung der Ergebnisse frtiherer HeuristikBemtihungen in Form einer Regelsammlung und systematisierung bildet deshalb auch den Ausgangspunkt dieser Arbeit. Diese Regeln jedoch sind das Ergebnis von Praxiserfahrungen; solange der Vorgang des Erfindens und Entdeckens nicht wissenschaftlich untersucht ist, lassen sie sich nicht mehr wesentlich verbessern. Andererseits ist die Frage der Heuristik wieder sehr aktuell geworden: der Dbergang von der Studierstube zur GroBfor schung erfordert auch eine systematische Wissenschaftsforschung, und das be deutet u. a. eine systematische Erforschung des Erfindens und Entdeckens. Es ist ein Ziel dieser Arbeit, den heuristischen ProzeB als Wissenschaftsgegenstand zu begriinden, dies ist erforderlich, weil noch immer Mystifizierungen des Er kenntnisvorganges tiblich sind. Zur Gegenstandsbestimmung gehoren weiterhin methodische Dberlegungen sowie die Formulierung des eigentlichen Forschungs problems der Heuristik: wie ist die menschliche Flihigkeit zu erkl1iren, auf der Basis von unzureichendem Wissen und unzureichenden Methoden beim Losen von Problemen neues Wissen zu erlangen? In psychologischer Perspektive geht es dabei urn die Regulation des problemlosenden Verhaltens.
