La prctica de boxeo en Chile se posiciona, en primer lugar, como un deporte propio de las clases populares, y en segundo trmino, como un elemento disuasivo de conductas delictuales y viciosas, propias de los contextos sociales riesgosos. Estas caractersticas, convierten al boxeo en un potencial agente de inclusin social dadas las capacidades que se aprenden con su prctica. El anlisis se base en el concepto de habitus elaborado por Pierre Bourdieu, proponiendo que existe una relacin directa entre el habitus de individuos de contextos sociales de riesgo y su eleccin por el boxeo. ste habitus popular, muchas veces expuesto a situaciones violentas y a prcticas ilcitas es transformado a travs de la prctica del boxeo y produce nuevas capacidades que se traducen en un nuevo habitus, el habitus del boxeador, el cual se presenta capaz de sacar a individuos de la situacin de vulnerabilidad en la que se encuentran. Se utiliz una metodologa cualitativa, con catorce entrevistas semi estructuradas a boxeadores de distintos clubes de boxeo de Santiago, tanto amateurs como profesionales, quienes corroboraron fehacientemente nuestros postulados.
