Las protenas de unin a cidos grasos son protenas citoslicas de bajo peso molecular que participan en el transporte de cidos grasos en las clulas y en el metabolismo lipdico celular, y estn presentes en diversos organismos a lo largo de la escala zoolgica. En este sentido se han identificado protenas de unin a cidos grasos en varios platelmintos parsitos, dnde se propone cumplen un rol importante en la adquisicin de cidos grasos del hospedador y su transporte hacia el interior del parsito. Este trabajo consisti en la bsqueda y purificacin de protenas de unin a cidos grasos del platelminto Mesocestoides corti, el cul utilizamos como modelo para estudiar la funcin de estas protenas en los helmintos parsitos. Los datos adquiridos sirven de base para el estudio de estas mismas protenas en el platelminto Echinococcus granulosus, agente causante de la hidatidosis, una importante zoonosis presente en nuestro pas.
