Es wird ein kontrolltheoretisches Entscheidungsmodell konzipiert, bei dem der Hersteller ber die eingebaute Produktsicherheit und die Ausgaben fr Sicherheitskommunikation zu entscheiden hat. Die Sicherheitserwartungen der Konsumenten, die deren Verhalten im Umgang mit gefhrlichen Gtern steuern, verndern sich durch die vom Hersteller gewhlte Politik sowie durch interpersonelle Kommunikation ber eingetretene Schden. Die durchschnittliche Sicherheitserwartung der Konsumenten im Markt wird als Reputation des Herstellers angesehen. Sie bestimmt das zu erwartende Absatzvolumen sowie in Interpretation der rechtlichen Regelungen zur Produkthaftung auch die zu erwartenden Haftungskosten des Herstellers. Ziel der Arbeit ist die Ableitung qualitativer Aussagen zur zeitlichen Struktur der optimalen Politik.
