Die immer wiederkehrende politische und ffentliche Debatte um die Qualitt in Alten und Pflegeheimen wird seit 2004 durch die dreijhrig erscheinenden Prfberichte des Medizinischen Dienstes der Krankenkassen der Spitzenverbnde (MDS) angeheizt. Was eine gute Pflegerische Qualitt auszeichnet, oder wie diese erfasst werden kann, darber gibt es selbst in der Fachwelt verschiedene Auffassungen. Die durch den Demographischen Wandel hervorgerufene Alterung der Gesellschaft wird bis zum Jahre 2050 dazu fhren, dass die Zahl der Hochaltrigen von heute drei auf ber neun Millionen ansteigen wird. Diese neun Millionen Menschen werden knftig ca. 14% der Gesamtbevlkerung in Deutschland ausmachen. Des Weiteren wird die Umkehrung der Bevlkerungspyramide dazu fhren, dass auf einen ber 80 jhrigen nur 4 Menschen im Alter von 2060 kommen. Dies wird dazu fhren, dass die Pflege von alten und pflegebedrftigen Menschen nicht mehr von Familienangehrigen oder sozialen Netzwerken erledigt werden kann. Eine wesentliche Herausforderung wird darin bestehen, diese neu entstehende Nachfrage auf einem qualitativ hochwertigen Level zu halten. Ziel dieser Untersuchung ist, den Begriff Qualitt in der Pflege mit all seinen Facetten wissenschaftlich zu untersuchen und einen umfassenden berblick ber die aktuelle Lage auf dem deutschen Pflegemarkt zu geben. Dazu werden verschiedene institutionelle Trger von Pflegeeinrichtungen auf grundlegende Unterschiede in der Pflegequalitt analysiert und Optimierungsmglichkeiten aufgezeigt.
