Cristal de aliento es para el gran filsofo alemn un punto culminante del arte de Celan. Celan dijo en una ocasin que su lrica llegara al lector como una botella arrojada al mar. Para expresar con palabras esta experiencia, Gadamer no parte de una teora poetolgica ni intenta interpretar a Celan a partir de sus silencios y de lo crptico de sus palabras, sino que lo hace de forma positiva, procurando comprender lo dado: se trata con humildad cada palabra, cada frase, cada poema. Desde all nace su esfuerzo por comprender esta poesa que de manera siempre minuciosa y con gran claridad mental se dirige rumbo al poema verdadero, a la palabra verdadera, al cristal de aliento. As se ir aclarando poco a poco este ciclo que es uno de los grandes monumentos de la obra de Celan y de la poesa del siglo XX. La traduccin de Cristal de aliento (primer ciclo de 21 poemas pertenecientes a Cambio de aliento) es obra de Jos Luis Reina y forma parte de la Obra Completa de Paul Celan editada por Trotta (1999).
