Par la suite, elle publie partir de 1980 la srie Maison Ikkoku dans le magazine Big Comic Spirits. Elle abordera un registre plus dramatique en 1987 avec Mermaid Forest. Mais son plus grand succs est sans conteste Ranma 1/2, quelle dmarre galement en 1987. Le manga, cocktail dtonnant de gags, quiproquos et combats darts martiaux, offre galement une rflexion indite et subtile sur la notion de genre sur plus dune trentaine de volumes! Une nouvelle dition est dailleurs actuellement en cours chez Glnat.Outre une succession de one shot, elle se lance ensuite dans InuYasha, une ambitieuse srie mlant heroic fantasy, romance, horreur et fiction historique. Sa dernire srie, Rinne, sest termine au Japon en 2017.
