A giant spoon with an enormous red cherry snaking out of the earth, a humongous badminton birdie, an oversized piece of cake, squishy scuplturesthese are some of the works for which Claes Oldenburg, the artist who helped redefine sculpture in the 1960s, is best known. However, because they have been less documented, Oldenburgs happenings and performances have not been fully integrated into the critical discourse surrounding his work. Raw Notes, originally published in 1973, collects all of the material relating to his performances. According to his specifications, the text in the book is typed rather then set, and appears on only one side of the page. Examples of the original manuscript are reproduced in 63 script plates. These include stage plans, scores, sketches for programs, and posters. More than 200 annotations by the author expand the text. Raw Notes is indispensable as a document of the important aspects of Oldenburgs work.

This is a really fun item for anyone who appreciates vintage typewriters! I love the design, but I found it a bit awkward to use during long writing sessions. It’s more of a conversation starter than a go-to tool for me.

Great for nostalgia lovers
As an old-school writer, I enjoy this typewriter massage piece. The aesthetics are nostalgic and it looks great on my desk. Just wish it was a bit more functional; it's primarily for decoration. Still, I love it!

Unique gift for a writer
I bought this typewriter-themed massage for my husband who loves writing. It’s such a clever concept and he finds it really relaxing while he works. The attention to detail in this product is impressive, making it a great addition to his home office!

Arrived damaged
I was excited to receive this product, but it unfortunately arrived with scratches on it. I love the idea of the typewriter massage but the damage really took away from the experience. Customer service was helpful, though.
