Diese Untersuchung stellt sich die Aufgabe, das Phiinomen 'Selektivitiit' und ihre U rsachen am Beispiel der Handzettelrezeption zu erlautern. Grundlage hierfUr ist ein 'Konzept zur Erfassung von Selektionen aus einem medialen Angebot', das innerhalb dieser Arbeit entwickelt wird. Die Ergebnisse eines Feldexperiments zur Handzettelverteilung werden in einem 'Leitfaden fUr Handzettelherausgeber' dargestellt, der die Studie sowohl fUr Kommunikationswissenschaftler als auch fUr Praktiker in der Wirtschaft, in Institutionen, Vereinen und Burgerinitiativen gleichermaBen interessant macht. Personliche Erfahrungen bei der Handzettelgestaltung und verteilung gaben den AnstoB, das Medium 'Handzettel' wissenschaftlich zu betrachten. Hinzu kamen Anregungen meines Priifers Prof. Dr. Klaus Merten, die Uberlegungen zum Selektionsverhalten fUr die Wirkungsforschung zu verallgemeinern. Mein ganz besonderer Dank gilt meiner Freundin Regina Cichon und meinen Eltern.
