Neue Impulse fr die Bilanztheorie kamen in den vergangenen Jahren vorwiegend aus der Finanzierungs und Kapitalmarkttheorie. Vor allem die berlegungen zur Kapital markteffizienz haben eine heftige Diskussion ber die traditionelle Informationsfunk tion des Jahresabschlusses ausgelst und eine empirische Bilanzforschung initiiert. Ewert greift Anregungen der Finanzierungstheorie zur Neubegrndung der Bilanztheo rie unter einem anderen Aspekt auf und entwickelt diese Anstze weiter. Er zeigt, da sich die Theorie fremdfinanzierungsbedingter AgencyProbleme offensichtlich sehr fruchtbar auf die Untersuchung von Problemen anwenden lt, die in der Bilanztheorie bisher im Rahmen der Ausschttungsbemessungs oder Kompetenzabgrenzungsfunk tion des Jahresabschlusses behandelt wurden. Um Fremdkapital zu angemessenen Konditionen zu erhalten, mssen die Eigner ihren Handlungsspielraum und denjenigen ihrer Manager so beschrnken, da Ausbeutungen der Glubigerposition mglichst ausgeschlossen, vorteilhafte Investitionen aber nicht unterbunden werden. Zu diesem Zweck werden stets auch Ausschttungsrestriktionen bentigt.
