Die Arbeit ist eine knappe, przise Charakterisierung Schillers als verhinderter und deshalb schreibender Jurist. Behandelt werden die Differenzierungen von Recht und Gerechtigkeit, wie sie heute verstanden werden und die Anknpfungspunkte, die sich hierzu in Schillers Werk und Leben finden lassen. Gezeigt wird, dass die Frage von Recht und Gerechtigkeit eine zentrale Frage des Gesamtwerkes Schillers ist und worin die Ursachen hierfr vermutet werden knnen. Zunchst wird die Person Schillers beleuchtet. Es wird gezeigt, dass Schiller zunchst seinem Willen zuwider eine juristische Grundausbildung erhlt und in ersten Kontakt mit naturrechtlichen Ideen kommt sowie dass er sich spter erneut dem Rechtsstudium widmet und in Kontakt mit bedeutenden Juristen seiner Zeit gert. Der Einfluss von Maregelungen, wie dem erteilten Schreibverbot fr den jungen Schriftsteller und auch der magebliche Einfluss von Ereignissen seiner Zeit, insbesondere der Franzsischen Revolution werden angesprochen. Es wird errtert, wie Schiller als Spielball herzoglicher Willkr das Recht seiner Zeit empfinden musste und wie er selbst letztlich als Rechtsbrecher zu qualifizieren ist. Exemplarisch aufgegriffen werden Schillers 'Die Ruber', 'Wilhelm Tell' und 'Verbrecher aus verlorener Ehre'.
