Se postula que varias partes de la gp41 estn involucradas en el mecanismo de fusin. En este libro se describe una metodologa novedosa y sencilla para elucidar regiones membranotrpicas de protenas. Se muestra un estudio detallado de las regiones de gp41 con alta afinidad por distintos tipos de membranas biolgicas. Posteriormente, se hace un estudio biofsico detallado de dos regiones de gp41 (NHR y LLP3/3), para caracterizar la interaccin lpidoprotena. En la ltima parte del trabajo, se explica la metodologa empleada y resultados obtenidos de la bsqueda de inhibidores peptdicos para bloquear la entrada del virus en la clula.
