Weiterhin stieg die Zahl der in deutschen Reiseunternehmen beschftigten Personen im Jahr 2007 um etwa 2.000 auf 73.400 Personen. Auerdem verzeichneten die deutschen RV einen Umsatz in Rekordhhe von 20,3 Milliarden Euro. Diesen Zahlen kann man entnehmen, dass die Reisebranche einen bedeutenden Wirtschaftszweig in Deutschland darstellt. Im Moment charakterisiert sich dieser Markt allerdings durch einen tiefgreifenden strukturellen Wandel. Dieser uert sich einerseits in der Angebotsseite, so zum Beispiel durch neue Technologien und neue Medien. Andererseits befindet sich ebenso die Nachfrageseite im Aufbruch. Die Endverbraucher stellen vollkommen vernderte Ansprche an eine Reise und somit an die RV und LT. Damit diese Akteure ihren Absatz steigern und ihr Marktwachstum sichern knnen, mssen diese ihre Vertriebsstrukturen neu berdenken und strukturieren. Der Gesamtumsatz der deutschen Reisebros, inklusive der Vermittlungsleistungen, erhhte sich im Jahr 2007 immerhin auf 21,1 Milliarden Euro (vermitteltes Umsatzplus von 300 Millionen Euro gegenber dem Vorjahr), jedoch haben die strukturellen Vernderungen der RV und LT weitreichende Auswirkungen fr den RM.
