Esta tesis est enfocada al estudio farmacocintico de distintos frmacos antiepilpticos en diferentes poblaciones de epilpticos: ya sea aquellos pacientes epilpticos denominados refractarios o de difcil control (que constituyen aproximadamente entre el 8 y el 10% del total de la poblacin de epilpticos), en nios en monoterpia o politerapia de anticonvulsivantes y en adultos. Uno de los puntos capitales de la tesis es, profundizar en otros fluidos de monitorizacin como la saliva. Como proyeccin de la misma y de acuerdo a los datos obtenidos queda planteado el estudio de la incidencia de los transportadores de eflujo en la farmacocintica de las drogas anticonvulsivantes. En los subsiguientes captulos que componen esta tesis, se incursiona en el estudio farmacocintico de la Carbamacepina y de su metabolito activo (epxido), de la Oxcarbacepina y del cido Valproico utilizando como se mencion anteriormente la saliva como fluido de monitorizacin clave para la evaluacin del estado clnico del paciente y como posible fluido que permita inferir sobre los transportadores de eflujo.
