Data Acquisition System (DAQ) is the process of collecting data or information from an electrical or physical phenomenon such as voltage, current, temperature, pressure etc. into a computer for the purpose of data analysis or manipulation. Reprogrammable silicon chip or FPGAs is used to implement custom hardware configuring the prebuilt logic blocks and programming routing resources. VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware Description Language) has been used to define the behavior of the electronic circuit or system. This book represents such a Data Acquisition System (DAQ) which has been entirely implemented on FPGA of the Spartan3E starter kit for acquiring data from the radioactive areas using the VHDL.
