Die Berichte basieren auf dem Standardformat ReportDefinitionLanguage (RDL). Das Bedienelement wird als WinFormsControl fr die .NetUmgebung in C# erstellt. Das Bedienelement ermglicht das ffnen, Bearbeiten und Speichern von RDL Dateien. Auerdem kann die Datenquelle festgelegt werden. Innerhalb des Bedienelementes wird der Bericht mit seinen einzelnen Objekte (Felder, Listen, Kreuztabellen, ) dargestellt. Alle Objekte des Berichtes knnen bearbeitet werden. Da die RDLSpezifikation sehr umfangreich ist, wird in einem ersten Schritt das Grundgerst fr das Bedienelement realisiert, sowie die wichtigsten Berichtselemente: Felder und Listen.
