El acto de morir es antes que nada una realidad sociocultural. Por lo tanto la muerte despliega en el plano de la conciencia individual y grupal conjuntos complejos de representaciones (imgenes, fantasas, sistemas de creencias o valores) y provoca comportamientos diversos de los grupos o de los individuos (actitudes, conductas, ritos), segn los casos, los lugares y los momentos. En esta investigacin, entonces, indagamos desde una mirada comunicacional las representaciones sociales sobre la muerte; desnaturalizando discursos e imaginarios hegemnicos, reconociendo la produccin de los sujetos en ellos. Si bien el tema de la muerte ha sido analizado desde diversas disciplinas sociales, este trabajo se propone un anlisis novedoso desde una mirada comunicacional, que intenta comprender los sentidos que los sujetos producen y reproducen en torno a la muerte. El modo de abordaje fue el cualitativo, utilizando como herramienta de recoleccin de informacin la entrevista. Se indag acerca de cules son las representaciones que tienen sobre la muerte sujetos de entre 25 y 40 aos, que viven en el barrio de Tolosa de la Ciudad de La Plata y se han definido a mismos como catlicos.
