Es el primer estudio realizado en el departamento del Huila sobre caracterizacin fsica y mecnica de la Guadua angustifolia. Resuelve las necesidades de tipo investigativo que existan en la regin en lo referente a la propiedad mecnica Resistencia a la compresin paralela a la fibra. Los resultados de resistencia a la compresin y esfuerzos admisibles demostraron que la Guadua angustifolia del municipio de Pitalito se encuentra bien posicionada, si se compara con estudios realizados en otras regiones y lo estipulado en el Reglamento Colombiano de Construcciones Sismo Resistentes (NSR10). Permiti impulsar la realizacin de otro estudio que actualmente se encuentra en curso igualmente con la Universidad Nacional de Bogot, fortaleciendo las lneas base de investigacin del rea de Construcciones del Programa de Ingeniera Agrcola.
