Les destins croiss des deux familles Sargats et Alvarez forment la trame du roman. Parmi ces personnages pittoresques, on a la surprise de dcouvrir un travesti. C'est que l'exil de tous ces Cubains Miami, pendant ces dizaines d'annes, jusqu'en 1995, perturbe leur esprit et leur coeur.
